Managing yourself

Time Management & Prioritizing

You can't do everything, so choose on purpose. Learners sort tasks by importance, protect focus time and plan around their real energy.

4 sessions · adapts to all four learner tiers (K–college)

Core tool

The Big Rocks priority sort (Must / Should / Could), and the Energy Ledger, a daily check of school load, social load and physical tiredness before planning.

Before you start: quick self-check

Rate each line from 1 (not yet) to 5 (definitely) before session 1, then again after your Real-World Rep.

The sessions

4 sessions, three beats each.

Every session runs Hook → Rep → Reflect, so learners know what to expect each time.

  1. Session 1

    Big Rocks First

    Hook5–10 min

Jar demo: rocks, pebbles, sand; order changes what fits

    Rep10–30 min

Sort a week of real tasks into Must / Should / Could

    Reflect5–10 min

Write one line on your Rep Card: what I tried, what happened, what I'll try next.

  2. Session 2

    Where Did the Time Go?

    Hook5–10 min

Guess vs. actual: how long do common tasks really take?

    Rep10–30 min

Time-log one afternoon; compare guesses to reality

    Reflect5–10 min

Write one line on your Rep Card: what I tried, what happened, what I'll try next.

  3. Session 3

    The Phone Problem

    Hook5–10 min

Count notifications during a 10-minute task

    Rep10–30 min

Try a phone-away focus sprint (10–25 min by tier) and compare output

    Reflect5–10 min

Write one line on your Rep Card: what I tried, what happened, what I'll try next.

  4. Session 4

    Plan Backward

    Hook5–10 min

Show a project due in two weeks and the panic the night before

    Rep10–30 min

Break one assignment into dated steps on a calendar

    Reflect5–10 min

Write one line on your Rep Card: what I tried, what happened, what I'll try next.
